On Sunday, June 8, the 3rd “International Experiences with Picture Books and Nursery Rhymes” was held. Caroline, Antoine, and Timéo, Short-Term Exchange Program (STEP) students from France, participated and read picture books in French to about 30 children.
Caroline read a story about a lost baby monkey searching for her mother. The children listened intently to the story about a butterfly helping to search for a baby monkey’s mother. The children were happy to learn in the end that the baby monkey was reunited with her mother.

Next, Antoine read a book titled “What Can We Do for the Earth?” and taught the children about the SDGs. Timeo played picture book games and the children actively participated and enjoyed interacting with the international students. At the end, everyone enjoyed dancing to the French nursery rhyme “Marionette.”
For the local children and their parents, it was an opportunity to interact with international students at Hiroshima University of Economics and experience foreign languages and cultures.
The next event is scheduled for October. We look forward to welcoming many participants from the local community.
