Tanabata Party 2024

7/10/2024

On Thursday, July 4, “Tanabata Party 2024,” was held by Komachi-kai (Women's Student Association) supported by the Center for International Education Exchange.
The Short-Term Exchange Program students and Japanese students celebrated Tanabata, which is also known as the Summer Star Festival.

They made Tanabata decorations with Origami to celebrate the reunion of The Weaving Princess (the star Vega) and the Herdsman (the star Altair) over the Milky Way and wrote their wishes on colored strips of paper called Tanzaku and tied them to the bamboo branches.

They also enjoyed the experience of making Temakizushi which is the casual style sushi rolls and Somen noodles which are thin wheat noodles. In making the sushi rolls, the students enjoyed rolling up their favorite ingredients.

After the meal, everyone played games both in English and Japanese and enjoyed their time together.
It was a valuable opportunity to meet new friends and experience Japanese culture.
The students enjoyed international exchange and deepened their understanding of different cultures.
