Opening Ceremony for the Honorary Consulate in Hiroshima Welcomes the Canadian Ambassador to Japan

In accordance with President Yuko Ishida’s appointment as Honorary Consul of Canada in Hiroshima, on December 1, 2022, the Honorary Consulate of Canada in Hiroshima was established on campus (Entrance Hall to the Library). Ambassador Ian G. McKay was in attendance for the Opening Ceremony.

After the Welcome Address by President Ishida, a Ribbon-cutting Ceremony was held together with the Ambassador.

After the Ceremony, a brief visit of the Honorary Consulate. The Ambassador made a short introduction on Canada standing in front of the National Emblem displayed in the Honorary Consulate. There was also a short discussion of the first editions of famous Canadian books in the library’s rare book collection.

The university is committed to the promotion and strengthening of the friendly relationship between Japan and Canada and will continue to contribute to the development of the region.
