| Outline of STEP |
| STEP is a program through which we accept short-term
exchange students from our Sister Schools, Affiliated Schools, and Network
Partners for a period of six months to a year.HUE has accepted exchange
students from various countries, including China, Poland, Germany,
France, Denmark, Indonesia, Mexico, Portugal and Turkey. |
| Purpose of STEP |
| We offer to our exchange students, special courses such
as various levels of Japanese languages, and others related to society,
history, and to the politics and business/economy of Japan, in order to
provide general as well as specialized knowledge of Japan and the
Japanese culture. |

| Eligibility |
(1) Those who have finished at least one year of study at
their home institution.
(2) Those who have exhibited excellent academic performance
at their home institution.
(3) Those who are in good physical and mental condition.
(4) Those who can bear financial burdens for studying abroad.
(5) Those who are enrolled in the Economics Department or a Business School at their home
institution.

| Taking Courses |
Those who are accepted to the program will take special Japanese language courses and other subjects taught in English, with the exception that those who with sufficient Japanese proficiency can take regular undergraduate courses in accordance with the H.U.E. regulations. The number of Japanese courses exchange students must take is 3 (6 hours/week) for those who are at a pre intermediate level, and 4 (8 hours/week) for those who are at an intermediate level. The minimum number of other subjects exchange students must take is 3 (6 hours/week) and the maximum is 5 (10 hours/week). Please note that "Japanese" courses and "International Education Internship" course are mandatory for all the exchange students.

| Grades |
| H.U.E. will send to the home instituion the academic records of exchange students, complete with their grades and certificates of completion of the program. |
| Transfer of Credits |
| Credits earned at H.U.E. are transferable in accordance
to each home institution's regulations. |
| Expenses ↑ TOP |
Tuition and admission fees will be exempt. Students
will, however, be responsible for the following expenses;
(1) H.U.E. will secure accommodation and furniture for exchange
students and pay for rent deposit
money. However, students will be charged between
15,000 and 31,000 yen per month for
accommodation. The exact amount will vary depending
on the accommodation assigned;
(2) personal living expenses;
(3) utility (gas, water, electricity) and telephone fees;
(4) personal travel expenses;
(5) medical expenses (insurance must be purchased in home
country before arrival);
(6) textbooks. |
